Insomnia

Sleep is essential to the mind body balance – during sleep the body and psyche regain their strength, repair and renew. Meanwhile, your long-term memories are reinforced. Everybody needs to sleep, it plays a vital role in your mental and physical health! 

Hypnotherapy, CBT and talk therapy are effective therapies for insomnia, disturbed sleep patterns, waking up throughout the night or an inability to get to sleep. There are many causes that induce the two different types of insomnia – temporary insomnia and persistent insomnia. The basic symptoms are not being able to able to fall asleep, wakefulness throughout the night, not getting back to sleep, feeling tired, irritable and groggy the next day and unable to focus or concentrate.  The causes are mental health issues, like anxiety, stress, feeling tense and overwhelmed. Not having the ability to switch off. Perhaps you have health conditions like pain, urinary or hormonal conditions? Consuming a lot of caffeine and alcohol can inhibit sleep and recreational drug abuse can also be a cause of broken, unhealthy sleep behaviours. Bad sleeping habits effect your libido and weight gain has been attributed to insomnia. 

Hypnotherapy using relaxation-meditation techniques and talking therapy will address insomnia, the triggers and the underlying causes. It then is important to follow up sessions, change your lifestyle, habits, behaviours and to practice the self-help tips and self – hypnosis. Prescription drugs can be effective in the short term to break unhealthy sleep patterns but are highly addictive.

It is possible in just one session if you have temporary insomnia to treat a client with relaxation, breathing and meditation/muscle tension release inductions, suggestion hypnotherapy accompanied by sounds with circadian rhythms allowing the release of emotions around the causes.  I will embed positive habits, and better sleep suggestions.
